Native of Estancia La Corona, Carlos Casares, Argentina. Killed on active service, Spain, 18th May 1944 (age 43). He was Assistant Air Attaché and pilot of the British Embassy in Madrid. Due to bad weather he crashed into a hill near Tortosa killing himself and Mr Arthur Yenken, British Minister in Spain. Caldwell was a veteran of the two wars. Son of Vere and Louisa Mary Caldwell; husband of Rona V. S. Caldwell, of Bexhill-on-Sea, Sussex. Left Argentina 22nd August 1940. Roll of Honour English Social Club Lomas de Zamora and also Commemorated in the central stained glass window of the chapel in the Lavallol Cemetery.
