ANCELL, Robert Hasting

Sgt., RAFVR. Squadron 49. Air Gunner at RAF Fiskerton

Native from Lomas de Zamora.  KIA during night operations over Dortmund, Germany 24/05/1943 (age 39). The Lancaster bomber (ED813), in which he was a crew member, was shot down over Essen. His body was buried at Dusseldorf Cemetery, Nordfriendhof 26th May 1943; taken then to Berlin War Cemetery. Son of Robert Wolfe Ancell and Hilda Susan Ancell, Argentina. Educated at St Andrew's Scots School. (www.sanandres.esc.edu.ar/ ).  left Argentina 1st November 1941. Roll of Honour English Social Club Lomas de Zamora and also Commemorated in the central stained glass window of the chapel in the Lavallol Cemetery
