Lieut., RNVR. HMS Cromarty

Lost at sea 23rd October 1943 (age 38). Minesweeper HMS Cromarty. Employee of the Buenos Ayres Great Southern, Western & Midland Railways. Son of Francis Edward and Charlotte Edith Fernie; husband of Celia Nelly Fernie, of Buenos Aires, Argentina. HMS Cromarty (Lt.Cdr. Charles George Palmer, DSC, RNZNVR) was mined and sunk in the Straits of Bonifacio, Mediterranean on 23 October 1943. The Commanding officer was wounded in the sinking. Roll of Honour in the Holy Trinity Church, Lomas de Zamora also Commemorated in the central stained glass window of the chapel in the Lavallol Cemetery
